Albert Sparks, NCC, LIMHP
Therapist/Owner/Founder
Greetings and thanks for visiting my page, I’m a licensed Independent mental health provider in the state of Nebraska, and it's encouraging you're considering me on your journey to wellness. I firmly believe we all have the capacity to live healthy, meaningful, and satisfying lives. For these reasons, among others, I became a professional counselor with a desire to bring hope and healing to others. I I have worked in the behavioral health field for over 8 years, and I am very passionate about my field. I began my work as a professional mental health provider in 2016. I've worked in a variety of placements, including the position of a community support specialist for people in the community with mental illness, agency based practice, and in group private practice. This has given me rewarding and fulfilling experiences working across the lifespan, from children, teen, tweens, and adults.
My Approach and Focus: I strive to be as authentic as possible both in and out of session: I am patient, calm, attentive, and genuinely care about people. I firmly believe humor is an important quality to have both in and out of session and love being able to customize my approach to the needs of each client, by providing a safe accepting /affirming space to process personal trauma or self-acceptance/esteem issues. Clients that choose me for therapy are often looking to understand their current situation, learn to cope/maintain situations in their daily lives, work to live productively, and see the therapeutic relationship itself as a valuable tool for goal achievement. I enjoy working with motivated clients who also have a sense of humor and are willing to take action steps to achieve their goals. I have commonly worked with: Trauma, Grief and Loss, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD (Neurodivergence), LGBTQIA concerns, Special needs, Intellectual disability, and much more.
Taking the Next Step: Using my professional experience and knowledge, I will work to best guide you in your life. My goal is to ensure each client leaves my office with hope, a sense of purpose/direction, and the ability to cope with stressful events in daily life.
Modalities I commonly use with clients: I am foundationally drawn to the Client-Centered Approach created by Dr. Carl Rogers to initially connect with and gain understanding with clients so that the work in session is beneficial. I also utilize some interventions found in Existential Therapy to assist a client with exploring their personal concept of freedom, as well as choices and responsibility for those choices made.
Other Modalities I work with and integrate are: CBT, DBT, ACT, Narrative, IFS, and SFBT
Any questions regarding services, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you.
